Introduction To Blog
Here we all are, in the present and experiencing now. Allow me to explain why you might be here, this is a page to visit for all those who have dreamed of the past or simply just enjoy or prefer old customs. I know I'm not the only one who sometimes feels that they were born in the wrong time. We all have a few Beatles songs that we like and black and white movies are just so amazing. I've been told I'm stuck in the past but I like to be. I own a working typewriter and a record player that I use to listen to only the finest; Nat King Cole, some Elvis Presley here and there, Frank Sinatra and even some Bob and Doug Mackenzie recordings. I can swear that some of the oldest poets are my soulmate, and I hate that being a poet in this day in age is such an unlikely career. I love the thought of riding a horse and buggy on just regular occasions. The past just had more style, whether it was method of transportation or their unique clothing styles; for example one of my favourites is the outfit a flapper would wear. This Page can be for discussion of things that you wish you were alive to experience, and the ways that we can recreate them today. This wouldn't quite be a history lesson but it can be used to learn new things. I don't mean to be dramatic in saying that the past isn't dead, I am just trying to express how strongly I feel about the topic. A favourite movie of mine is called "Midnight in Paris" it's about a man named Gil who is a sturggling writer. When visiting Paris accidentially travels back to the 1920s. He ends up meeting a girl who he falls for (who happens to be Paublo Picasso's mistress). He visits every night and eventual they end up farther in the past. She believes that the best time is before the 1920s, but Gil soon discovers that to every person in their own time it seems that the past would be a better place. He says that your current time may be unsatisfying but in all; life is unsatisfying and you can't just escape to the past. You must live in the present and look to the future. This I have to agree with, yet I still find myself imagining what it would be like to have been born earlier. I think that there are ways to enjoy the past in moderation, through movies, antiques, music, books. But also apreciating the gifts that the present day has. Enjoy this blog.
